I believe in reason, facts, learning, and ethics.  I’m tired of mean, dishonest, stupid, and venal.  Civil democratic societies that respect freedom, enforce the law impartially, make rational policy choices after debating options, and help people work together, are better for everyone than might-makes-right, winners-take-all failed states where the wealthiest, most-powerful, and best-connected prey upon productive workers.  We all make mistakes.  But we can all do better, be better, and make the world a better place if we try.
